First off, is german or french harder to learn (no it) and because it sounds beautiful, careful with those things. and german is a mess, no rules for plurals nor genders, extremely long words which are very different from the latin based ones, etc, plus germans use a lot of dialects meaning you wont be able to use it everywhere.. I think it is easier to learn french than german. french has fewer inflections and the verbs are more regular (although that is relative). besides, english borrowed a lot of its vocabulary from french which makes it even easier for an english native speaker to learn..
